PDF Compress Expert App Reviews

16 Customer Reviews:

Totally useless.

Mangled all the images and no significant compression. Don’t bother with this one.

Reduced the file size of pdf from 18.3 mb to 18.1mb using higest compression ratio … well, even preview does it better. $3.99 I should have spent on a caffee latte...

I originally used this to try to repair pdfs which Preview had damaged and bloated. It wasnt able to do that, and converted one to a plain gray blur. I have also used this to compress pdfs from the Internet Archive. It can sometimes do that. Depending on your requirements, this could be anything from 1 star to 5 stars.

It is crashing when we go to change the Compression Modes. Please fix it because it seams that is a good app!

PDF that needs to be compressed cannot be opened because "Following pdf file is already encrypted". I am not an expert and dont understand the problem. App will be deleted. 3.59€ wasted...

Nice to have the option to specify image compression parameters

Seems to work well still, even though it hasnt been updated for a couple of years. Nice to have different options for amounts of image compression.

No compression

It couldn’t reduce size of my pdf files. It is useless.

After a while you click on the gearwheel to adjust the compression preferences of a file the app crashes. The bigger the file, the longer it takes to crash the app. Only, if the file is large enough (somewhere above 150MB) and you are superfast you can manage to change the settings. This is unacceptable! I hoped the developer would fix this bug, but so far in well more than a year nothing has improved! Please, release a definitive fix for this because apart from this the app is good!

Bad Image Quality

Yes, it works, however images the compressed pdf is so terrible that i can not even recognized the words on it.

After loading a PDF file, you have to click on a little gear to see your options (the first of which is "Minial [sic] Compression”). Then you have to click-click to choose the output folder, even though if you choose the origin folder it won’t overwrite but adds “(1)” etc - in other words, the origin folder could perfectly well be the default, saving the user some gratuitous effort. The great thing, though, is that this (<3 MB) and PDF Outliner (1 MB) give me the functionality I need to remove almost 1 GB of Adobe bloatware from my computer. And it’s much faster than Acrobat!

Unstable

The app crashes as soon I click on compression settings. Everytime.

I’m not familiar with the previous versions, but at least the latest version of this app works perfect. I reduced a 13Mb to 1.1Mb quickly and very smoothly. I don’t make reviews quite easy, but in this particular case I strongly recomend this app. As my geek friend of mine recommended me, just try it and if works great for you, otherwise you can erase it quite easily. So far I’m happy with it so I’m going to keep it. And is free!!!

I used this to compress a 23MB pdf file. It quickly compressed it to 1.2MB, and I was able to email the file. The compressed file still displayed in very high quality.

I was hoping for something that would undo the bloat that Preview inflicts on Pdfs, but this cant undo the bloat unless I use maximum compression, and this deletes everything at that compression.

Wow this works

Absolutely what I needed, I kept trying to send a file, and it was too big, and then I found this and love it. Yes, please do use it.

Crashes every time

Running on OSX Mohave. It worked a bit yesterday, but today it crashes every single time. Reboted and reinstalled to no avail.

Works Well With Some Pdfs, Badly With Others

I originally used this to try to repair pdfs which Preview had damaged and bloated. It wasn't able to do that, and converted one to a plain gray blur. I have also used this to compress pdfs from the Internet Archive. It can sometimes do that. Depending on your requirements, this could be anything from 1 star to 5 stars.

Works quickly and is very effective

I used this to compress a 23MB pdf file. It quickly compressed it to 1.2MB, and I was able to email the file. The compressed file still displayed in very high quality.

Not the most intuitive, but works well
